Meridiana is undoubtedly the flagship of Maltese viticulture! Its vineyard, halfway between Sicily to the north and Tunisia to the west, is influenced by a temperate Mediterranean climate, magnifying noble grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Vermentino, Merlot, Syrah or Cabernet Sauvignon. Wines with freshness, delicacy and with a subtle salinity on the palate. Magnificent.
The vines are cultivated in sustainable viticulture on limestone rock soils with a relatively clayey substrate. It enjoys 300 days of sunshine per year.
Iconic Maltese estate, Meridiana was founded in 1985 by Mark Miceli-Farrugia, with the support of French oenologist Denis Dubourdieu. Since 1992, the estate has been consulted by the Antinori family.
The 17 hectares are planted on limestone rock soils whose blue clay subsoils retain moisture. The proximity to the Mediterranean brings freshness and a certain salinity to the wines.
Meridiana produces wines with the greatest respect for fruit, characterized by freshness and a saline finish, made from Vermentino, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or even Syrah grapes.
