Silvio Morando, or the art of Grignolino. A winemaker with a big heart and a lot of talent.
At the foot of the Apennines, where the climate knows an extraordinary amplitude between the seasons, Piedmont, with its hills and its subalpine climate, is an exceptional terroir for growing vine.
The story of the Morando family began 4 centuries ago, when they came to Piedmont from Sardinia, passing through Corsica. Silvio, in love with nature and the terroir of Vignale Monferrato, continues the tradition.
Silvio, with his wife Tiziana, took over the estate of 15 hectares, grown organically. Barbera, Grignolino and Bonarda are the main DOC wines made from autochthonous grapes, alongside international varieties.
In addition to producing some of the best Barbera del Monferrato, Silvio likes to play off the beaten track of Piedmont wines. He specialized in Grignolino del Monferrato, delicious and very refreshing red wines.
